Though cornerworking CAN be VERY boring, hot and just plain suck, if there are fast guys out there and you're paying attention it can be a learning experience.

Personally, I HATE cornerworking (and working the gate, TIM!!!), but when fast guys like Alonzo and the other white plate CMRA guys get out there and you're 5 feet from them watcing them rocket into a corner it's pretty cool.

It's very worth it to a new guy that wants to get into track riding. One thing I tried to tell a female corner worker that was doing everything BUT watching the track was this. The riders DEPEND on the corner workers to relay the bad news. The corner work is the one with the radio and the flag. If a guy goes down and stays ON the track and you don't get a red flag up and get on that radio because you're tweezing your nut hairs then you're going to get someone else hurt or even worse, Killed. We (riders) depend on the corner workers, among other things, to have a save and fun track day. You're not just looking for wrecks. You're looking for hanging off someone’s bike that could fall off and cause someone to wreck. Maybe someone is just too fast or too dangerous for the group they're riding in. A corner worker is an external set of eyes on the track that is there for the safety of the group. Riders can't be looking at other bikes for lose parts on someone else's bike...etc.

So, though it seems like a boring task and usually goes without pats on the back, it is a needed thing and I thank all the corner workers that are awake and alert. If you're out there not paying attention you might as well not be there at all. Miss a wreck at one of Tims events he'll send a big mean ugly guy (like me) to go out there and pull yer eyes open.

i have to say i enjoy msrh more, probably because my 650 only goes so fast... granted i do get off to passing big bikes in T1 at TWS (Texas World Speedway) after they blow by me going straight.
I'd have to agree with the MSRH > TWS (Texas World Speedway). At first I preferred TWS (Texas World Speedway) but after I got used to MSRH, I love MSRH now.

How does one go about getting into corner working, AND, does it pay at all or do you trade your services for whatever golden nuggets you can pick up? I've got plenty of spare time, just don't know who to talk to. It'd also do me a world of good to make some extra cash and pick some good riders' brains.

No cash, you get a free track day credit...

That is plenty worth it.

Corner working is a good way to pay for track days or have a front row seating to watch the expert racers.
Check out each motorcycle school in the sponsor section and see which event/place you want to corner work.
Give em a PM and go from there.

Corner working usually does not have any kind of cash payout. What you get is a credit for a free trackday.

If you're interested in corner working for Fastline, please keep on eye on the Fastline section for open slots as they're sometimes posted up for a needed corner worker or contact Tim (Godsuki) for available dates.
