Yeah, financing a bike is really brutal. You're limited by season as to the value of your vehicle, without a significant down payment you're financing a lot of negative equity, and full coverage insurance on an SS bike for a young person can be as much as 400$/month.

i have not checked all the other post but i came on the first page and just wanted to add... all this is true!

now my part....
i got my USED R6 for 8k out the door. finance with people's thrust federal credit union and i paid 170 each month for 48 month.
so what i did was just pay 200 every month + insurance of about 130 full coverage (most have on a bike you never know)
then tires.... service... tune up.... and other things you may need alone the way.

been a 1st time buyer will rape you so hard that you will your pants with out knowing (been there done that)

if you want a bike that bad and willing to spend money, then hey!! go at it bro. but i would say... save your money and get a nice and used bike for about 5k and you dont have to be rape by the financial of the law!

or you could save your money and buy one cash and not pay for interest charges. there are lots of used bikes out there for 3-4k. save for a year.

get a 250, will eat the xj's lunch, in your price range, and you can always sell it for a little less than you paid for it in the future. there are alot of people on this forum that have them.

So let me get this straight... I'm paying for your school so you can borrow money to buy toys that you can't afford. Do I understand this right?

Save your money. When you can pay for the things you NEED on your own and save enough to buy things that you WANT, then buy the toy with the money you saved. Try to learn not to be a debtor or a leech.

Please give me examples/ideas and dealerships that are better or worse on financing
Thanks
Just an observation. if it is going to be three years before you do this, that means a 2009 will be 5 years old not new or slightly used (well sometimes they are slightly used). Second point is that in 3 years if you finish school and apply yourself you hopefully will be in a better financial situation.
If you are paying off any school loans and doing it regularly then the credit situation should take care of itself. Ultimately the decision is yours, posting here will get you lots of viewpoints which is great in an open society so take it all in and then in three years you can make a decision that is right for you.

The above was uncalled for - my regrets.

Let me just suggest that you will be better off in the long run to save your money and buy toys with cash you have saved rather than borrowing at ridiculous rates.
