I think pretty much everyone uses at least dual compound tires now.

Not everyone does.
Depends on the application. What are you using it for:
Sort touring/commuting, aggressive street, track?

For street or trackdays they are the greatest thing since toilet paper.

unless you ride aggressive enough to get arrested on the street, you're probably not even touching on that 2nd compound. Its a track day tire imho.

It depends on the tire how much lean angle is needed to get to the softer compounds.
What I have experienced is that because the harder compound is in the middle (which isn't being used so much on the track) unless you do some street riding also, the tires tend to get triangular.
In effect, you wear the sides out before the middle. On the street the effect isn't as pronounced because we tend to spend more time on the center part, which wears more slowly.
IMHO they make a good compromise tire for street with some track use.

PR3's and BT023's are dual compound Sport Touring tires, so it's not just track specific tires.
There's still a few street tires that are single compound that are great tires. The Pilot Power and Diablo Rosso come to mind right off.

It would be good to hear from the thread starter as to what his intended use is.

If you're using it for commuting I'd go with either the BT023 or the PR3. Both are excellent choices with the edge towards the Michelin PR3.
