Davidrr,

We're all glad your here, but what they are trying to say is this.. someone getting out of the military and buying an ss bike has a very very high chance of it ending badly. Most of them have had a hard time, but they've been saving their money and think the best way to have fun for a bit is to get a crotch rocket and tear some streets up.

They generally have little to no previous experience and wear little to no gear.

We don't want you to become another number, if you haven't done so before, please buy a helmet/jacket/whatever else you can afford to in terms of protection. Also, your doing the right thing by wanting to ride with people, just make sure those people know how much experience you have and if they are stupid... don't feel bad for telling them you don't feel comfortable riding with them.

If you want somenoe to cruise with I'll go run the streets with you to get some experience I'll go with ya if your on my side of town.

Welcome back and Thanks for your service, Bro.
I would ride with you but I'm in Iraq
feeding the forces. Hope you take the advice of these guys and play out there in a safe way. Beware the squids who dont have a lick of sense.
Gear and MSF if you havent already done so. Ride with people who wont get you in over your head. Nice bike but definately not the best choice for a beginner.
What side of town are you on?
What riding experience do you have?
What gear do you wear?
Just a few of the questions that will help you find people to *safely* ride with.

Good Luck and Welcome to the site and thanks again.

Start with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course. You will learn stuff that will keep you alive.

take msf and then ride by yourself or someone mature enough to keep it at a slow pace. you going out with a group probably isnt the best way to learn to ride

i had an 03 600rr before i left to IRAQ and put about 2,000 miles on it. i sold it though because we dont make a whole lotta money in the ARMY. i have, well i had a SHOEI RF-1000 helmet but somehow my in laws lost it when i was in IRAQ. so now i have a $100 HJC helmet and i do have a riding jacket. i have taken the MSF course thats given at the ARMY bases so i am not a total beginner but i havent riden for like almost a year and a half. i appreciate all the advice and i hear yall but im sure my odds of coming back from IRAQ werent that great either. i am on the SE side of houston but am willing to ride wherever to ride with a group. well thanks again for the advice and i hope to meet up with yall sometime.
