They started with two BUSA engines and designed them together. There was a big article on it a year or so ago. Pretty neat stuff but I think they only ended up using the heads, everything else was custom...

It is pretty straight forward when you have the technology to create castings and have people working for you that have this magical thing called a college degree

cool video! the track is too short for the bmw to really take advantage of it's top end, also the ariel has 4 wheels and 4 disc brakes so it will outbrake any two wheeled vehicle! At a different track configuration the results might be different!

Dood, it is more than just what you mentioned, atom's top end is 200mph aprox, the car can downshift 5 gears in 1 second, changing directions is faster in 4 wheels etc. No matter the track i don't see the bmw wining.

I do... with a different rider, track rubber and an un-locked ECU.

if you change to full race spec on the S1000RR, it can easily hit 200+mph! put Rossi on it @ Misano and see who wins!

With enough room and the right gearing, maaaaybe it'll hit 200.

To wit, Rossi could pedal a tri-cycle and beat most drivers. Moot point.

Bill Guthrie's S1000RR is un-corked, and the top end on it was comparable with the other liter bikes on the same grid. If you rely on the numbers posted by BMW it should have steadily walked away from anything he was racing against.

Still not happening, you guys are starting to sound like JB and Flossi, if if if if if..

Now if it was stoner maaaaaaybe i see him kicking the atom but still not happening .

If you are starting to modify the bike what makes you think they can't modify the atom as well for specific track, slicks, bla bla bla.
