I've been caught taking a corner too wide and that happened when we went to CR. I didn't go off, but those snakes nearly made me! I'm just glad I spent so much time riding my bike on gravel roads enough to know when traction isn't there, and on the street it's easier to see that a highside is coming if you lean too much and then catch the traction you lost. Track experience would be good for me but I can't afford it, I've spent plenty of time on closed roads, runways, gravel roads, and grass (though not nearly enough to be considered a pro) to know my limits and when the bike is not happy with the conditions I'm driving on. Again, we all go down sooner or later, I'm just glad that you are able to walk and ride away from this! Congrats Ivan, you have just had a good experience with going down

Let me throw one more curve at ya'.....

I have an old school 7/10ths mile MX/TT track in my back yard, and two REALLY tight short flat tracks. I let the local street riders/mini racers/etc come out from time to time to ride my dirt bikes, and it is great training.

Get the flat track all packed down and water it the day before, and the next day, let em' out there on a TTR 125 kitted with a 150 cyl on chingshin street tires and fall down about 100 times trying to figure it all out....almost slick as snot. Hey, you might get a little bruised up, but talk about learning throttle control, both end slides, and smoothness? You might get up to 18-22 mph on the flat tracks.....on the 100, it is a two gear affair, but the TTR is basically one gear.

The other flat track I allow knobbies on it. And the TT is great for bikes up to the 250 4 st.....a 450 is definitely bringing a tank to a gun fight. I have two Honda CRF 150R's and they are near perfect. Gotta wear plenty of MX gear/boots/gloves/roost protector/helmet/elbow/knee armor....you will fall down. I have been run right over, too.

BTW, if you ever get a chance to watch or buy the film: "Racing the Robert's Way", go for it. King Kenny Roberts Spanish racing school from the 90's is fully examined as he and his fellow instructor, Randy Mamola, teach the Spanish 125 and 250 GP race teams the art of racing XR100's on special dirt courses he and Mamola set up. It is full of instructional information about the value of dirt riding as a road racing tool, and you can watch as students start to get the hang of it.

And you probably are already familiar with similar travelling dirt track schools here in North America, and a former US AMA 250 champion's dirt schools on the west coast. Good stuff for training proper riding instincts.

That sounds like a challenge. U sure you really wanna go there? Im taking the CMRA class on march 6th at cresson. Which will be my first TD of this season. Come get it big boy

Tell you what. Ill pay for half your day cash if you can pull off a better lap time. It will be my first time at cresson. On new suspension, and bike setup. So im not like some cresson expert. That sounds fair right?
