I caught some people being racist on me this weekend.

I'm a white dude (I guess, half german half hispanic) and i hang with some real close asian friends. Well we met this hot Koren/white girl at a club and she took us to 24hour Karaoke around 4am on Sunday morning. We get in one of those big rooms with about 10 people, all asian. I was the only white person in the room. It's all good though for about an hour then one girl for some reason started talking in Korean to the girl that brought us. They get in a fight and we all got kicked out. My buddy told me the fight was about me! That chick got mad because she brought a white guy!

I don't know why people gotta hate. Everyone except for that one chick was being nice to me. This really upset me

Although I agree that there is an absolutely ridiculous double standard that goes on when it comes to race and culture here in the US, I must say I have a few problems with a few different aspects of that argument. Some examples, such as the ones the initial post pointed out, suggest such a double standard but the argument presented before us doesn't address all facets of this topic.

For example, the argument says that blacks have a "whole month" dedicated to "their" history. Well were Black history month not in effect, would we go as far in depth about the influence that blacks have had on this great nation? I would tend to think not, atleast not to any degree significance (IMO). I also wonder if we would re-visit the topic of slavery and its adverse effect on our country (we had a civil war as a result, that's a pretty significant happening). Considering the current climate of "political correctness" (I hate that shyt btw), I think people (particularly those who are not 'black') would gradually move away from the topic altogether because it may be a "non-issue" to them as they are not black. This would lead to slavery and other important topics (i.e. civil rights) to be dropped out of the educational curriculum, which would be a disservice because those are very important topics that represent very critical moments in US history. As far as blacks having BET, aside from the name of the network...what is racist about that channel? Nothing. They have shows which all races can enjoy...I know plenty of whites, hispanics, n asians that laugh their off at comic view. If you have a problem with the name, then create a petition and sue.

This has an ignorance about it that perturbs me just a lil bit...

First of all, yes...I AM EXTREMELY PROUD TO BE BLACK. But that doesn't mean that I think my race is superior to that of any other. I am simply proud of my heritage. I happen to also be EXTREMELY PROUD TO BE CREOLE. Doesn't make me better than anyone...it simply makes me that much more unique.

Secondly, I have never robbed anyone...whoever posted this is treading rough waters when they make this assessment because it implies that only blacks, mexicans and others rob, steal and kill unjustly. Ever heard of the Ku Klux Klan?...they used to (and still do when they can get away with it) hang people because they weren't white. Blacks aren't the only group of people who commit gang violence. So I guess blacks are the only types of drug dealers out there? GET THE OUTTA HERE WITH THAT...You're probably the same type of guy that think Rodney King "deserved" the -whoopin' he received!

There was also a statement about "our neighborhoods" not being safe...try being a black man in a white neighborhood in Jackson, Mississippi, then talk to me about the safety of white neighborhoods. Sure there are black neighborhoods which are not safe (for some) to travel through but were you to look deeper, you would realize that the communities you are thinking of also tend to be impoverished communities. Have nots take from those that have...historically accurate statement. Lets get away from the whole...I'm sick of blacks pulling out the race card. I never pull out the race card but some people need to understand that there are "causes" and "effects" for everything that goes on. Older blacks tend to be racist as a result of their personal life experience. I'm am in no way excusing this mindset but I will ask that when you look at it from their perspective, can you not atleast 'understand' why they may think the way they do ?

Last thing I swear...

The word "******" is not, traditionally, a word used to describe blacks. "******" was, by definition, an ignorant person. The English of old referred to their Irish counterparts as "******s". That is all...

the BET thing was just an explanation that if they had a WET (white entertainment television), it would be considered a racist channel....

but i see where you are coming from with all this. i am proud to be who i am also, but look at it like this. if a mexican guy yelled out mexican pride, you'd keep walking and not think nothin....but if a white guy yelled out white pride.....would you do the same? or would you be thinkin in your head "that kkk skinhead white boy"???

I think the point is that racism is not a 2 way street. that's where i feel for the white peoples.

I got nothin against whites/blacks/yellows/browns/greens/blues/pinks......i just think that too many people think white people are the most racist, which in fact, i believe they are the least racist nowadays.

I understand the whole WET, but BET is just a way of letting people know, when the channel had first started, that the channel offered material that black could relate to. Most other channels offered shows that would feature "all white" casts and BET was an alternative that allowed young blacks to see blacks in roles other than the "token" black guy.

When I hear a white guy say white pride...why would I not attribute his actions to him being a racist. What group of words is commonly associated with KKK meetings? Dare I say "white power"...it's wrong to assume but one cannot help but think, atleast initially, that he is a racist. I will offer you this though...I don't say "black power"...mostly because it would offend others and cause them to think me a racist or a bigot...but also because that group of words is associated to black panthers. The argument of black saying "black power" is faux paux as the only black that actually say that usually are racist...

People will only call you these names if you let them.

I used to play in an all black band. When I first started with them someone called me 'whiteboy'. He was just playing around but I let him know that it wasn't Ok. Never heard it again.

"What's really important in life? Sitting on a beach? Looking a television eight hours a day? I think we have to appreciate that we're alive for only a limited period of time, and we'll spend most of our lives working. That being the case, I believe one of the most important priorities is to do whatever we do as well as we can. We should take 'pride' in that"

Eh... who cares! I am not exactly sure why we all are different colors. Maybe it has something to do with evolution. Or, maybe made us this way to see how everyone would take it. Or possibly, some aliens dropped us off here as a big experiment. That we are obviously failing at. Still don't care and don't want to care. People need to accept the changes in the world because change is the only constant. Everything else resides in the realm of impermanence. Realism is accepting the environment around you and dealing with the truths that exist within it but, racism is bread from ignorance. And I for one am tired of ignorant people no matter what color their skin is. Get over it already.

Very polar observations of you.

We will all be the same color soon enough. Probably close to it in our lifetime so I guess start picking your sides for the next hate race.
