Trail Riders of Houston Family Race Series Rnd 1 March 6th

Its the first round of the Trail Riders of Houston Family Race Series being held on March 6th.

The final flyer for this event is not up yet, but there will be one listed right next to this race on the following page when it is finished. Plan on coming out to give it a try.

For more information: http://www.trh-cycle.org

TRH has been around for some 40 plus years, and is the longest running dirt riding club in the area. TRH caters to all riders young, old, male, female, new, veteran. This is not motocross, but if you have not tried trail riding, hare scrambles, enduros, or dual sporting, we do all of that and more. Come on out and have some fun.

The event flyer is up at this location

http://www.trh-cycle.org/flyers/fs2011r1.pdf

If someone could put this on the above post that would be great too.

If you have not run a timed enduro with roll chart and odometer you can run on the same row as someone with time keeping equipment and learn. It is a lot of fun. Our race schedule will also include some family hare scrambles.

Do you have more information on this event? I have looked at the flyer and also the TRH website but, I can't find the information I am looking for.

Basically, what I'd like to know is - how long are the races? Are they expected to be for 1 - 2 hours?
I am 32 yo, and I only have a DRZ125L mini bike, what class could I ride on it? I really don't have any aspirations of winning on that bike but, I think it would be great training for the CMRA season.

You may PM more infor if you prefer.

For a Family Enduro, there are two loops to the race. The morning loop is typically a one hour loop that is for the slower classes which are mostly the little kids. The idea is that it is a little less technical, shorter, and slower average time than the after noon loop. Everyone rides the morning loop and it usually takes about an hour to complete. There is an hour break for lunch after that and then a self start for the after noon loop which usually takes a couple of hours. I have not been on the course, so I am not sure about the difficulty, but I would imagine you could do both courses on your bike. There is a lot of sand, some creek crossings, and hills to go over on the property so depending on where they run the course you could run into any of that. I would contact Toby or Al whose numbers and emails are on the flyer just to verify you could ride the afternoon course on a DRZ125.
There is some to learning to ride an enduro that you probably just need to ride with someone to figure out. Its not hard, just takes a couple of events to get the hang of.
Basic tools we use for a time keeping event is a watch or clock that you can start from 000 and it keeps hours minutes and seconds, an odometer that can be adjusted forward or backward by tenths of a mile and is fairly accurate, and a roll chart holder which holds the roll chart which is the information telling you what mileage you should be at what time and also has resets and adjustments to your odometer.
This is a great event, so no one should be worried too much about all the equipment at first. Learn by doing is the best way, but we also have had some enduro classes at skull creek throughout the year.
Dont forget to bring your lunch and use a camel back to hold water and fill it up before each loop so you have some water to drink along the trail.

Hope this helps.

Weather is looking great for this event. Should cool off a little just before sunday and maybe a little moisture will even make the trail better. Come on out and ride or even work the event and see what its like. You will have a nice time no doubt.
