I can be at the track anytime. Still a spectator only but can go. I should be back on the track in a week or two.

Best money ive spent on my bike. At first, i started to have doubts about it since i was fighting with the tune so much, but with some advice, im finally getting the bike to cut 1.4 60fts on motor, the clutch still has a tad too much weight on the arms, but i plan on spraying out the hole so maybe the extra weight will help the clutch lock up on spray. Weight on the lockup arms is your enemy from what ive learned, but since you have a big motor your setup may be different

That's what I gotta do. Waiting on my funds to get right after being laid off so long before I start spending money on it again.

How will you be breaking this in? I'm curious how the standard drag racer breaks in a built motor similar yours and ZXALAN's. I know of a guy who claims that he rebuilds his every 3-4 passes so I was curious about the break-in period.

I ran at Baytown but that was on a 1981 CB900 back in the mid 90's. Way before the time of the Hayabusa. Lol.

After talking to Tom and Alan the plan was as followed. The motor should be started a few times and shut off after temp comes up. Drain the oil and change the filter after a few of these cycles. Im trying to get debris out of the motor and put it on the dyno. The bike was on the track with 100 miles anyway when new. It still dynoed strong after 10 or so passes.

NO...

1)Heat cycle it to full temp, then let it cool COMPLETELY down to room temperature.....do this cycle 3 times....

2)Change oil/filter

3)An EASY, low rpm, low load ride around town. Mediating the throttle and keeping the RPM fluctuating while recording the AFR data......varying load

4)Install recommended tune updates, ride it again....Put atleast 50-75 miles on it....ATLEAST.....I would rather 100+ miles but since the tune is not correct, this will not likely be possible.

5)Dyno tune it.

6)Put more street miles on it, riding it harder and harder....checking the vital signs for clues etc.... At around 200-250 miles, change the oil/filter again.

7)GO TO THE TRACK.....

8)After you get a few good race weekends on it and a good baseline of the MPH......THEN start playing with nitrous on the dyno and get the nitrous tune right...

THIS IS MY RECOMMENDED BREAK IN.

Remember, this is not a stock engine that is designed to hit 100k miles.....treat it like one and you will be lucky to get 1000 miles...

What Alan said is probably better, but I dont think there is a need for it.

I wont be able to ride mine on the street b/c it will have a full slider and a small fuel cell.

I heard the rings need a little nitrous to seat properly.

Yes... The nitrous helps glaze the rings/cylinders over before they are properly mated giving you 10% leakage before they are fully sealed....then you have a motor that never makes the power it should from the start and usually requires a rebuild way too soon.
