I know the some peeps at both stores...really good friends with a couple and you'll be better satisfied with your purchase at Honda of Houston just because I've seen them bend over backwards for people!

From a financial standpoint, no matter if its a $2000 or $10000, be comfortable with laying your first bike over at LEAST once and paying for the consequences ($). It may never happen, but its bound to. Also, there's no sense in spending tons of $$$ if you MIGHT like the sport, up front.

Having some experience in the modded car world, the turnover ratio of bikes is much higher than cars also. Technology improves exponentially every year on these things. Odds are you will get tired of your first bike eventually, no matter the CC or age.

Buy the SV650...

Don't get the cbr600rr just yet. I clocked ~15K miles, most twisty riding, before I bought my cbr600rr. I have 16K miles, starting from 8K miles, on my CBR and I still feel like there's far more power there then I know how to use.

Can't go wrong either way, just use some common sense and you'll be fine.

My first bike was an R6 and I took it easy at first....lots of power...now I'm a bit more comfortable and let it open up.
You are making it sound like you have had that bike forever..... lol

Gay. Those aftermarket fairings make it look stupid.

They are trying to make it look like an 'S' model and are failing miserably.

plus its overpriced, you can get one for MUUUUUCH cheaper.

(I got my 2005 N for 2800 with 9500 miles on it.)

But usually around the 3000 -4000 dollar range is what you should stick to for a decent SV 650
