I got the one from cycle gear and mounted it on my center stand. It does work - now I can get out of my apt complex gate w/o having to buy an opener or waiting for a cager.

What works for me is I drive just inside the cut out lines placing the most metal I can provide from my bike directly over the sensor. If that doesn't work, I pull far forward and motion the car behind me to pull up and point to the ground. With confussed faces, most cagers will pull up slightly and trip it for me.. I think only one light I've had major porbs with.

I'll pull up, tires on the sensor line in the pavement, and with the clutch in and/or bike in neutral, tap the starter.

The magnetic field in the starter usually triggers the light, it works almost all the time.

The starter on a bike isn't like a car, you can tap it while running with no issues. This has worked with every bike I have ridden- Honda, Yamaha, KTM, Kawasaki, and a Harley.

Give it a shot next time you're having stop light issues.

The reason that the sensors don't trip is that aluminum (what most sportbike are made from) is not magnetic. Generally speaking, your crank and rods are. I find the corner of the square, park the meat of the motor over it, and blip the throttle a few times. This seems to work even on my tard which is way off the ground.

I have one, works for me, my gate wouldn't open before I got it. Some lights it doesn't work but it's probably because they are malfunctioning in the first place.
