Seriously - do not think that because its just a "little 600" that its a beginner bike. It also weighs under 400lbs and is designed to go VERY fast.

Supersports of any displacement are not beginner machines anymore than a Veryon is a car for a 16 year old.

If you insist upon going the sport bike route, look for a used Ninja 250. They're cheap, they look good, they're reliable, and when you get done learning on it, you can sell it for about what you paid for it to the next person that wants a beginner bike.

1) We're gonna be reading about you in a "fell down went splat" thread soon.
2) 250's re-sell fast and at near the price you paid for em. They're about the easiest bike TO re-sell
3) Nothing wrong with a carbed bike

Yeah dude, I started on a 96 Honda F3 600 and was able to learn on it. It's about controling yourself and not getting carried away.

If I would have found one of those Kawi 250's (I think from 07 or 08 up)...they have a real slick sporty look (like the 600's). I probably would have gotten one of those. But it didn't come up so I went with what I could get at the time.

My point here is, keep alll the options, who knows maybe a 250 might come along that is just the right price and the good choice at the time or it might just be a 600.

I would deff say no to the 929's or 1000's, I was about to get one for my second bike, but the thought of that power kinda scared me a little.

We should go outriding sometime.

I think I could learn a lot from you.

Maybe you can give me some pointers. I mean I'm going to go and do a track day.

But maybe before that, what do you say?

Prob. Could , but now my weekends are dedicated to family

So all I do is commute, you'll learn how really slow you are at a trackday vs how fast your bike really is

TD are excellent learning tools if you go there to learn

If you don't get the 650GTR (practically free), just wait to buy a bike until after the MSF class. You may end up liking cruisers for all you know

Funny you should say that - its exactly what happened to me. Took half the class on a Ninja 250 and the other half on an Eliminator.

Was all set to get a Ninja 250 as my first ride BEFORE the class. After the class? Well, you can see what I'm on now...

I've ridden sport bikes, and I like them, but for the way I ride (basically my bike IS my car), a sport bike just doesn't work.

Not a bad bike man - seriously.

Hyosungs catch some from people but fact is, they're a pretty well made bike. At least as well made as anything from HD in the last 5 years.

If i had the spare coin, I'd pick it up just to have something different...
