Goldwing Owners help/advice

So I hope the sell of my R6 goes well...if it does I will be picking up a Goldwing beggining of February

Im not going brand new but not looking to spend over 16k....so years Im looking at range from 2003-2008...hoping to grab one with <40k and navigation (i can get my own but would rather have it built in)

Ive tried to research goldwing maintenance issues/intervals or reoccuring problems and came up with nada

Are they that good no one complains about them?
Also what are some trouble areas I should look out for when buying a used one

Thanks in Advance

Cross country trip here i come.......

There is a great forum for the GL1800 and it will pretty much answer any questions you have.

http://www.gl1800riders.com/forums/index.php

I have a 2002 with 115,000 miles and the only thing I really have done is oil changes and regular maintenance.

Brake and Clutch fluids changed once a year, Radiator flush every two years, air filter changed once a year.

The only repair item I can remember is a blown fork seal, and a couple of batteries. Valves are supposed to be checked every 32,000 miles or so, but I have yet to find anyone who needed them adjusted.

I triked mine at 85,000 miles and it is still going strong.

I would check into the year models from 2006 to 2009. they seem to have been having some transmissions issues, not sure what they are, but you can probably find the answers on the GL1800 forum.

As for the GPS, from those that I know that have one, they didn't like it. I understand you can't do anything while the bike is moving, and the maps were limited. That is just some stuff I heard, so take it with a grain of salt.

Why not go brand new? For only a few grand more here is a leftover '08 with Navi and ABS. You also get $1,500 in accessories. Just do a fly and drive, 800 miles coming back on a new Wing would be nothing.

Great advice right there I found that website last nite and I will join tomorrow on my day off and do some more research. I didnt know about the GPS, I guess its like the factory car GPS that wont let you do chit if your moving or in gear...It would almost be better to get an aftermarket garmin that you can piggy back into your audio system or headset
