I think i have paid 4 tolls in the 5 years I have been here. I learned to navigate the city without using toll roads.

Its possible to navigate Houston without the tollroad. It is, however, horribly inefficient in some circumstances.

Easy tag saves you $.20 cent every time.

so, $15 tag/.20 savings = 75 trips through a toll booth. I probably do that many trips in one yr, however, the convenience factor far outweighs that.

shouldn't these roads be paid for by now though? Especially the south, west and north sides of bw8....did they ever finish all of the northeast side or are there still lights? it's been a while since I've ventured that way.

Wasnt it 2 years ago that they said it had been paid for, and the toll was to be removed as the proposal spelled out? Instead, they decided to raise tolls.

I have a EZ tag but have been pulled over twice because the cop claimed I rode through the EZ tag lane and the light went off. But after getting to work and home both times sure enough my charge was there. Didn't get a ticket either time since I was able to show him my EZ tag.

I've got tags on all the bikes.. usually ride the line or close and I have never seen a charge for the bikes... just waiting for them to cuff me one day and I'll show them the tag in the tail.... "sorry officer, thought I saw something in the lane and was tryng to avoid it... you know how bad us old mens eyes are... "

It happended that way because, according to the articles I read, the rights were sold before they were paid off, to a group of companies which raised the tolls and does some sort of lottery system each year to split the profits.

ez tag in bike and truck...convenience alone is worth it

Chew on this...I had my tagged bike in the back of a friend's truck, which was tagless, and told him just go through the ez-tag lane since I had the tagged bike in the back, it would register it as the bike passing and he wouldn't get fined. Well, the thing goes by weight. Even though the bike's tag got registered, it didn't charge it. And my friend got a bill in the mail for going through in his truck. Weight sensors in the road knew it was not the bike passing!!!

Yup, see my quotes on the first page. Disabled, Purple Heart or MoH. Did they change it to free? I ask because their site says discount.
