Oh, I have time...

The CMRA return to the Houston area looks to be a good one. We've got plenty of time, heck, it's 37 days away?

I don't have much to do to get the bike ready for Friday practice. The CMRA is running the event, and I'll be ready for several practice sessions for which I and my bike qualify. That will give ample time, with likely the "same" weather conditions as Sunday will be, to set up my new suspension. I just need to do some routine maintenance and hit up some of the site sponsors here so I can get some things in order. John Hutchinson at South Central Race Center already has my new Ohlins suspension.

So, let me go through a checklist... sort of.

I have both wheels off so the tires are not bearing any weight. I have the bodywork off, oh yeah, it needs to be repaired. I better hit up Patrick to see if he can get me a replacement superstock tail section just in case I can't repair this one. I need to repair the upper fairing too, and then repaint in the "old" LSTD colors 'cause the boys are getting a new design/ color this year and I have the "old" stuff still available. Gonna have to paint it anyway, so might as well change it up! Maybe I'll beg Scootertrash for an expedited fresh pc on my wheels while I'm at it. Now that I think about it, I still have to paint the two sets of bodywork for the LSTD bike that I don't have the paint for yet, I hope that stuff gets here fast. Nah, I have plenty of time.

So, suspension's being worked; what else mechanically?

Well, I read somewhere, sometime, that used oil will turn acidic over time. I don't know how long that time takes, but why chance it? Whoopie ought to be able to get me some synthetic oils for my engine, along with RBF (Racing Brake Fluid), EBC or Vesrah pads; heck I know I can get those from Hutch and Patrick too, decisions decisions. So, change the oil, change and flush brake fluid, get fresh pads- I like the bite of the Vesrah's, but the new EBC is supposed to perform like them too. Eh, maybe I'll get both and try 'em out to see what I like better. Oh yeah, gotta get some Redline coolant additive for the cooling system too. Flush that stuff from last season out of there.

So! Repair/ repaint the bodywork, paint 2 sets of LSTD bodywork when the paint comes in, reinstall the suspension bits from Hutch, change the oil, flush and bleed the brakes, flush the coolant, put it all back together, done deal! I have time.

37 days... 4 weekends... hmmmm. Oh yeah, the mini I built over the off-season needs to be shaken down too. At least it's done, well, 'cept for the gearing, I have to figure that out. I can't even shift in to 4th or 5th gear 'cause it's so tall. That means I have to get to Katy and work that out, I guess that means I better buddy up with someone that has a membership 'cause I don't!

4 weeks... 4 weekends...

I don't have enough time!

Tom,

If you have a mini I can flog at Katy, I'll buy the membership for us to run at Katy.

That's a no brainer.

PM me if you really are serious about that. I might ask you to help set up the ZX10 suspension as well... (not for Katy) It's on, just need the knobs turned to work the best.

Sounds like fun actually, and heck yeah, I can turn some knobs on the suspension.

Cool. I'm in for the renewal of my membership. I'll git er done soon, but I no longer have a mini, so if I renew, I am counting on you.

FWIW, when I was doing tmgp, someone showed up on an Aprilia 50and it was not an easy path...still fun, but the XR100 tards were faster due to size issues.

Yeah, this would race with the 150's, so I can see installing a 150 top end on this in the near future.

As far as counting on me, it's sitting in the shop right now ready to ride.

What are the guest fees? How many can you bring at one time?
I'm sure Macman and his boy would like to come ride too.

I'll have to check. I think multiple people, but one bike per member. I may be wrong, so I'll look into the rules again.
