HPD chase policy

I wonder if the new policy will reduce motorcycle chases? They are not suppose to chase if it is for minor infractions.

Lets see the policy in writing.

Cannot initiate a chase based upon a class c violation (traffic tickets). Only class B offenses and above. Even with that they have to take into account speed limits, population density, vehicle condition, seriousness of the offense, and whether or not they can ID the vehicle. I'm looking at the policy right now.

So that means if your new bike is stolen and we run the plate and see that its stolen, an officer will only most likely only do a report instead of chasing it and attempting to recover the bike. This was initiated by the police chief who is put into office by the mayor of Houston. The policy's tone intends to discourage ALL chases, class C or not. It was clear...if you chase somone and it turns into a cluster****...the dept wont back you. So feel free to run from the the police now..

Oh yeah before anyone jumps in and says it.................................

I try to do a search for it and get a story about the officer that got reassigned to desk duty for critcizing the policy after a wreck last wed. because of a chase. Hence the policy change...we'll see. I'm not in favor of people running, but it is also pretty stupid for someone to die because of a turn signal violation.

, if a cop chases you after you do something wrong, its FTP, if a cop doesnt chase someone else ( even if they stole your bike ) its FTP. make up your mind.............................................. ......................................

BTW, i dont hate cops, just the occasional , if you break the law, your bound to get caught. id rather pay a ticket, than run and possibly die, or jailtime.

my $0.02
