I have this conversation with my wife (an 8 year Army vet) at least once every two weeks.

People in the Middle East have been fighting each other since the dawn of time. We need to let them fight their wars and stay the out of it.

When a foreign army drops into someone's country people are going to try and kill them <period>.

Think about this ... drop the Chinese army into the USA. Tell everyone that they're here to help. Would you believe them? No, I'd be shooting at them from the rooftop of my house.

+1 But it's even worse if there's two warring entities are going at it and the invading country sides wit one of them

+1...

The violence is the middle east has been fought for thousands of years. Nothing we will ever do, short of nuking the entire area, will change the climate of things there. We can only expect interference to heighten the situation.

... with the gas prices. Honestly I think we are compromising the security and strength of this nation by "treading softly" with nations in that region (namely Iran) because we want to stay in the green with these nations in order to keep oil prices down. Personally, I'll pay the higher prices for oil if it means we can find our nutts.

is that good or bad?

"to w/ gas prices" says the guy paying $3/gal. now what if gas was $6-7/gal you think that bike would be a toy or your day to day vehicle......you think a Mickey D meal would be less then $4.........GAS rules our economy.

bad if our leaders aren't willing to own up to it and good if you're either a defense contractor or oil company or some other relative entity...

Bad. I'm not willing to trade blood for oil.

Plus, the cost of a war more than cancels out the money that we've "saved" by 'controlling' oil prices.

It does however make a few people very rich.

it not only makes some people rich, it also makes your life easier. like i said cheap gas = cheap cost of living. and yes $3/gal is cheap.

people say that (blood for oil) , but every time gas prices spike you sure do hear alot of whining. and were only at $3, 2x-3x that........i bet alot of people's tune change. but NO we can't drill for oil in the US cuz it takes away from the environment and might kill an endangered species.

so where's the oil gonna come from?

Well we've got alot of whiners out there, but one should realize you can't ever appease everyone. A soldiers life is not justified by anyones ability to get their gas for $3.00/ gallon...that's for dayum sure...
