148 in my car coming home from the Baytown track. I didn't have own a bike yet and I've never gotten pulled over on my bike.

Police officer paced me for a few seconds but then he pulled me over. He had a conversation outside of the car with me waiting for my excuse. I told him I was trying to get home to my girlfriend. He said well I was pacing you for a second but then I smelled that throttle open up and had to pull you over before I lost you. What you got in that thing anyway? It was a supercharged Acura RSX-S haha but I keep it sleeper. He let me off with a tiny speeding ticket somewhere 70 in 55 range.

In 1971, hometown of Durango, CO an officer caught me doing 40 in a 20. I received my one and only traffic ticket, ever. That was on my Honda Scrambler 175 and the officer was none too pleased with a 17 year old. My dad laughted at me, and I paid the $40 ticket (a lot of money for me at the time).

I don't speed these days much more than 10 mph above the limit, but I do enjoy the accelleration.

careful with accelerating too quickly too. I got pulled over and the officer told me to give him one good reason he shouldn't take me in for wreckless because of my rate of acceleration. I said unless you can calculate my rate of acceleration you can't tell me it's to fast.

85 in a 50 when i was in college, that ticket was $110. (35 over)
later i got a ticket in the neighboring town for 81 in a 70 and it was $140. (11 over)

still to this day, i don't understand how tickets less than 2 miles apart vary so much in cost.

I thought in Houston if you got stopped on a bike doing over 90 they impounded the bike.
Just something I had heard.

Triumphant675r,

No kidding? Wow, I am toast in Sugar Land sooner or later then based on that twenty to fifty in second gear derivative of velocity stuff. Been working on nice, smooth and basic wheelies: nothing flashy, but just a bit of hop and down in second gear. Sugar Land cops are good guys, but sneaky. They love First Colony school zones of course, and stop signs near their main station. Several times I have been watched: making a FULL stop there Dr. Ninja? Yes Sir! They can't tell if I am 57, or 17 will my full face helmet on.

Interesting discussion. No wonder the lawyers all drive Jags, BMWs and Mercedes....

86 in a 55 zone in the Hill country=$250 fine. That's the only speeding ticket I've gotten on a bike ever.
4 times I've been pulled over 100+, the last time on 3090 he got me at 140.....chewed me out about the "what if's" and told me to have a nice day.
Having all my stuff in order, and gray hair seems to help.

The worst on paper was like 85 or 90....but it came with an "operating motor vehicle on one wheel" citation. Cop thanked me for stopping, followed me to nearest ATM so I could get cash and then went to the station to post bond so I didn't have to surrender my license.
