I invested in a tire changer and balancer; this is why i buy online, out of state, pay no taxes, and have them delivered to my door. I love buying online with free shipping

i learned my lesson the hard way having others mount/balance my tires. ive had several scratched wheels, and several wrongly balanced tires.

I was happy about that until I realized my bike had a of a vibration on it now that it didn't have before. So I took my wheels off and went to a different shop and spent $30 to have them rebalanced(the first shop did not even have them close to being balanced right and scratched the out of my wheels to boot....) Now the bike is fixed and rides nice and I have $330 and some personal labor in tires....still not bad but.....a PITA for sure and considering I could have gotten the Pilot Powers online for $210 shipped and then spend $50 to get em mounted....I would have $260 in the whole thing. I could have saved $70 and had the same amount of labor in the deal and it would have been right the first time, with NO scratches on my once perfect wheels.

You should have rolled in there and made then fix it. You may take a risk on more scratches though. Or asked him to pay the fee for the second balancing.

Yeah I wanted to.....BUT after the way they acted when I tried to return a jacket, I knew good and well they weren't gonna do about the balancing.... sure they may rebalance them but.....if their balance was junk or they didn't know how to properly use it, it wouldn't do me any good. And after looking at the scratches on my wheels where the brake calipers were bounced off the rim several times and the tire bar took 4" of paint off of the edge on both wheels, I wrote them off. I won't ever go there again.

Do I want them happy? Yes. Thats kind of a dumb question. But before MH had sponsors I always dealt locally if I could. If I saved a lot then I went internet. Its the same reason buying from China is a bad idea for our economy.

Keep the money local.

LOL... no not at all.
Now why would a site sponsor want us to help advertise their motorcycle shop on a free local motorcycle forum that they are paying to keep afloat?

Our local shops have helped those in a jam or when someone else screwed something up royally on your bike. Sure there are lots of online places to shop and everyone wants to keep their options open, and that's cool. But quality mototrcycle maintenance and peace of mind isn't something UPS can deliver.

Give them a shot to earn your business locally.
One day they just might hand you a paddle when you're up a certain creek.

Everyone has their reasons for ordering where they do. In this economy the best deal is often the bottom line be it online or local. I buy from Motorcycles Unlimited whenever their prices are lower. I don't when I get can a much better deal elsewhere. Most of the time Motorcycles Unlimited beats even online pricing for me so they see me fairly regularly.

It is that markup that keeps shops open and local people employed.

This keeps them off the tax rolls, off the streets and paying taxes.

It's Ween's money - he prefers not to spend it locally.
He said that - He works for his money and will spend it where he wants. Houston is going to get as little of it as possible. He would prefer that it go to areas outside of the Houston area because he hates the "city" attitude and wants to deal with down to earth people. If it's inside 1960 or around it - he won't shop there unless he has to.
I asked -
Support locals? - Why? Price better - or close up shop.
