Not only from a human stand point of generally not wanting someone else to unnecessarily end up hurt because it could have been prevented through wearing proper gear but also from an economic stand point if they don't have insurance and show in the emergency room.... someone is gonna have to pay for it.

This from last week during rush hour on I-10 West near Bingle/Voss. Notice the difference between the rider wearing high visibility gear and one wearing a black jacket and desert camouflage. I wish I had taken both pictures from the same angle and distance so a comparison would be easier. The hi-viz rider was seen from much further away.

Although I'm glad the dark clothing rider wore some gear, he was wearing no gloves. The temperature was 45 F. He was riding aggressively by switching lanes without signaling, riding in blind spots, following too closely, and in general failing to read the traffic flow. The other rider was a direct contrast: he displayed a very steady and smooth style of riding.

Well in the post that you quoted, he said one of the riders wasn't wearing gloves in 45 degrees on the freeway with heavy traffic in bad lighting conditions. The gloves are the missing link. That's foolhardy even if one opposes ATGATT.

Helmet protects bike, not the rider

Saw this guy on I45 North. That helmet is doing real good protecting the back of the bike!

Shoot I have not seen an 84 Lumber in years (or since HD and Lowes). If he is too cheap to buy new shirts .. I dont think gear is on his list

There's an 84 Lumber in Conroe which is also where the photo was taken.

Man, I dunno.

I've had plenty road rash and will still ride in a T-shirt if it's not a spirited ride.

It's a calculated risk that I'm aware of.

84 lumber on the southeast side on 3 just outside the beltway and I pass one in Alvin every day on my way to work. I'll stop in and get us all T-shirts. We can start out own gang . . . . oops, I mean MC.

Maybe, like what happend to Cuong recently, dude had his gloves stolen that day and didn't have a choice.

It's very odd to be riding in that temp with all gear except gloves.
