This, too. Buddy of mine went darkside on his VTX1300. You can get to 45* lean angles without too much trouble. Just gotta get used to the increase in force required to start the lean. I've seen one vid of a ZX-10 running darkside. Will try to find it. For commuting in Houston, I think it'd be the way to go. 30k+ miles out of a rear tire sounds pretty good to me. Just keep a spare rim with a motorcycle tire on it for playing around.

Looks like they might have a larger contact patch than on a regular tire. I would worry about the outside of the tire wearing out, but I guess it would be legit. The car tire is rated for a lot more weight so it should handle the weight of the bike no problem.

I know a guy at work that runs a car tire on his Yamaha Venture and he said he gets something like 40K miles on it and that it works great. And the tires are cheaper.

With all that being said I still prefer a motorcycle tire though.

Which is why I would stick with a real motorcycle tire.

...exactly that, photo posted earlier would be the first... sport or hyper bike I've seen with one. I was bored, so dug a bit more...had no luck finding anyone that had actually mounted and written about a sport bike with a car tire mounted. And using the fz'1 tire size to work with....les just say there weren't a lot of options and the bike tires were cheaper. :-)
