Well the first real road test was a sucess....The bike ran pretty well, maybe a slight rich or lean sputter at steady cruise from 4800-5100 rpms but before or after that its fine.....acceleration is flawless and smooth. Suspension is very harsh....bumpy roads will have you hopping out of the seat....smooth highway is manageable. Brakes are OK but I think a set of new sintered pads are in order to give it some more bite... Handling is VERY nimble, flickable and stable.....NO DOUBT that is what this bike was built to do. Feels like riding a mini bike....

As for the engine, it ran clean and pulled steady, all the way to the red line(and limiter once)...Not a spit or sputter.....Just steady acceleration through the RPM range all the way to redline....clean and simple..

I am however not overly impressed with the power.....its pretty lame in the low to midrange, starts coming on OK around 9000 and pulls steady to 12,500 but no explosive powerband up top like I was expecting....The whole powerband is pretty linear from 6000 up....just not as much as I thought it would have. I haven't rode a small CC bike in about 10 years but....I thought this would pull harder to me then it does. I may throw it up on a dyno just to give it a check up and see where the power REALLY is..... I would be suprised if it dynoed anywhere near the 116rwhp it supposedly dynoed back in 92'. I probably need to verify the slides are opening all the way up at WOT......

All in all though, the bike ran/drove pretty much flawless(for a road race bike) and is gonna be a hoot to play with on the street. It sounds awesome, gets TONS of attention and handles like its on rails..... I didn't make it 3 miles from my house before a guy in a new truck rolled his window down to ask me what year it was and that it was super nice..... I told him a 91' and his eyes bugged out... Its gonna be a lot of fun to play with, the simplicity of it is awesome. IF I decide to keep it, I could see a nice 1216cc, ported head, yosh cammed, flat side carb motor going in it....about a 160-165rwhp should be JUST enough.....

Really like that guage cluster.
Surprised they had gear indicators back in '91.
