FYI - Sabin Performance is owned by former CRRC/CMRA racer, Jim Sabin. Sabin was very fast back in the late 80s and early 90s. He was part of several teams over the years, including N2Racing.

Cam Mason doesn't ring a bell. I'm assuming Cam raced with the CMRA? Let me dig up my old CMRA newsletters and see if he's in the results.

Also, the poster you bought is of a 1990 model. Here's ad copy for that year for comparison purposes. Like one guy mentioned above, the bikes were similar, but the 1100 had a few subtle changes, mainly to the chassis to beef it up for the added power of the big bore engine.

I owned and raced a 1990 model GSX-R 750. Here's ad copy for that year. (BTW, Suzuki stopped calling the bike "Slingshot" in 1989. The 1988/89 models had big bore, short stroke engines compared to the smaller bore and longer stroke of the 1990s and later engines, as well.) I also raced 1991s, too, which were basically 1990s with USD forks and some updates - and revised graphics. 1992 and 1993 were very similar to 1991...with revised graphics. I wish I had those ad copies, but they are certain to be out there.

Racer997, thanks for posting the brochures and stuff....it's cool to read that old stuff and see how they hype them up ect ect.... 429lbs dry and probably 95rwhp....lol

As for Cam Mason, from what I gather, he attempted to road race for a year as an amature. I doubt he was affiliated with any sanctioning body.... He had road raced a Ninja 750 before the Team Hammer bike and said he could never get the feel of the inverted front end on the GSXR. He told me he actually dumped it twice at the race track on different days....that was when he decided to build it into a show bike.

my fave was also the red/white/black, as pictured above. then they came out with the splashy "california" graphics. Looked like the "trapper" keepers i had in jr. high. ugh.

although porky, I still liked the early 90s 600 the best. maybe it was the reddish orange retina burning paint.

Cool project. I'll be following the progress, and the stories behind it.

Those old gixxers make my back hurt by simply LOOKING at them. Bad memories (horrible ergos for a fat guy, and I was FAT back then).

That pic of Jamie James is interesting. That body position would be considered by today's standards. Thanks for posting this. Its funny to see what was "state of the art" 20 years ago.

Thanks...

I'm not sure how the they painted inside the wheels but I wish they hadn't....first off it's just a little "too much"...ofcourse so is the rest of the bike's "show work" but now the paint is peeling in some spots and I am not sure how to strip it all off without messing up the polish on the wheels. Not too mention the yellow shows dirt real bad and it's impossible to clean in there.

I am leaving it as is for now...

Very nice job Alan! You can be proud of your accomplishment.

I had these bikes way back in the day, including one ofd the 750s with the dry clutch (I believe they called them the race version). I never owned any one for very long ('89 for ~3yrs). Every time I go to MotoKlaus, his old Gixxer brings back memories.
