Are you going to put the correct Emgo Suzuki paint on it and if you do you'll need to paint up a vintage hammer Arai ....

sweet bike... it's definately in the right hands for a rebuild. would be kind of cool to have in your arsenal of bikes though... quite a bit of history in that bike

Good knowledge on the Team Hammer Arai!

Yeah my first thought was to paint it back to it's original race scheme from Team Valvoline Suzuki. Actually Racer997 and I have been talking, he actually knows Michael Martin and John Ulrich from Team Hammer and gave me contact info for them. I would like to contact Michael Martin to verify the race history on this bike and see if he really was the rider, also to find out what all is in the motor. I'm hoping to maybe get some original race pics of it to get an image of it's exact paint scheme.

For now though, I am gonna clean it and polish up the current body and frame. Although the early 90s custom paint is not my flavor, the paint is in extremely good condition and kind of "period correct" from this bike's hey day. I really don't need to spend $1500 on a paint job...I'm already gonna be dumping enough money in it to get it road worthy, new tires etc.

I already contacted Race Engine Service to see if I could get info on the engine build. They could not verify for fact they built this motor as it does not have their stamp on it....but it was built so long ago, they may not have stamped it. Judging by the headwork and oiling system mods, it was obviously modded by a pro. I did a compression test on it and they were 170, 165, 170, 155psi. All strong numbers but not indicating any crazy race compression ratio or anything...although this test was cold and the engine hasn't been ran in a long time so they are likely higher when warm, especially on an air cooled motor.

It's gonna be a neat project. Should look good and turn a bunch of heads. Also it would make an outstanding track bike for someone, especially someone vintage racing or something. But I'm sure you guys will see me roosting it at Crabb or the Forrest before it's all said and done. Not to mention some bike nights here and there.

I already changed the oil, put fresh plugs in, carb rebuild/tank clean. Probably gonna try to fire it up tonight and see if I can dial the carbs in. I can't wait to hear the exhaust system.
