Previous owner complication

I didn't think finding the name of the previous owner can be this complicated.

Anyhow, bought a vehicle from a dealer. It' s a used vehicle and I need to find out the name of the previous owner (for extended warranty transfer purposes). Anyhow, dealer where I bought the car from doesn't know (no record). Dealer where the previous owner took the car to won't disclose this info (privacy).
A friend ran the VIN (who works for insurance company??) ...came up empty. The car was previously registered to the dealership because it was a leased car = no owner name.
A cop friend ran the VIN = same info..no indiv name due to lease vehicle.

Extended warranty company won't transfer the warranty unless the original owner name is given

any idea what/how to resolve this remedy?

It is possible they cashed out the warranty anyway. If you sell your vehicle you can get a prorated amount back for your unused warranty. I have done it twice.

bc they're crappy dealership (private) and this was my first time buying it from them...needless to say it'll be the last time.

yes but i would like to transfer that warranty under my name instead so I can use it (if needed). I cannot cash it out since I did not pay for it but I bought the vehicle so the warranty is "transferrable" if I can obtain the name

no it's not cashed out..i called and the insurance company (extended) said its there but they can't transfer it until I can provide the "proper info"..which is vin/original owner name (who bought the insurance) and among other things which I all have.
yes, I can just leave it under his/her (orig name) but I can't use it bc the way extend insurance work, I have to file a claim and my name and the name on policy won't match = they won't reimburse.
also i brought my car into the dealership (not the private dealership) for some factory warranty work and they also saw the extended warranty shows up on their system...so it's there.

How did you even find out about the warranty? Don't tell me they used it as a selling point.

no, the private dealership didn't even know it was there.
i found out last friday when taking it in to the Lexus dealership for some warranty work and the service advisor pointed out to me and told me I need to call Lexus Care to have it transfer to my name in case i ever need to use it.
I appreciate all the curiosities but the bottom line is I need the previous owner's name..can we focus on that instead?
