Once they picked me up after I had forgotten my wallet in El Paso at a friend's. They teied to shake me down but I had no money and no one I would call. They offered me their cell phone to call even across the border to get some money. When I refused, they arrested me. In the morning they asked me if I was positive I would not at least call someone to get even 50 bucks. When I said I really had no one I could call, they kiced me out of the jail. Luckily my aunt lived about a mile from the station I was at and I walked to her house and ate breakfast and got a ride home.

never understood why people even go there for vacation, and THEN brag about it like they just discovered uncharted territory. its a cesspool of pure , no matter where you go down there.

*edit* sorry about the cesspool comment. that goes against my new years resolution.

As if the roving militant drug dealers looking to kidnap Americans wasn't enough.

I've had some good times in the resort places (Cozumel and Puerto Vallarta) but I didn't ride my bike there.
I flew over the cesspool parts.

Old news. We used to have the same problem traveling through Nuevo Laredo
going to Monterey to race. Best bet was to be in a group and only by day.

No way in Gods green earth would I go across the border now...

No .

Back when I was in SOI (School of Infantry), we'd take the bus to San Diego, then the tram or train (dont remember) to Tiajuana (sp?). It was sin city, but a hole even back then. I wanted to kiss the ground every time I made it back to the US. I wouldn't go now without kevlar, an assault rifle with plenty of ammo, and at least a squadteam. , I dated a chick that was from Mexico recently that was too scared to visit relatives that still lived there.

i've paid more bribes in mexico than I can count on my hands. Better than the alternative, and waiting that out in jail.
