those eels and worms have a tendency to want to climb out. Come home and find his on the floor.
Had our 10+year old placo (spot) croak the other day. he was about 8" long. had to get a replacement (spit) He is a mini-me of spot
get a couple placos, helps keep the tank clean. DON'T get snails, them things will take over. just my 02
get somethng basic first. Nothing that eats other fish as that makes the tank hard to keep clean. Lots of cool fish that eat pellets and flakes
Also get several good filter systems going.
again my 02

Thanks man! I read this and today I finally go toff my @ss after two months and set up my tank. It's about 100 gallons smaller than yours but since I move every few years it's better for me.
I upgraded!

it's a 37 gallon flat back hex.
the stand is made of Koa wood. I had it custom made when I lived in Hawaii. My co-workers cousin worked with Koa and he built it for me for just over the cost of the wood alone. I could not afford it otherwise. To explain, when he was building it, another customer offered a grand to buy the stand and tank!

Being you have such a large tank, it'll actually be easier to maintain a reef tank once you get it set up. Larger being easier than smaller to maintain. Make sure you research all that goes into set-up and don't skimp on equipment. You know you might be looking at about a grand and more to really set up a propper reef tank right? That's just for equipment in addition to what you have. They are the nicest to look at though and knowing you did it will be very satisfying.

Me, I'm going to go buy a couple cheap fish to get the tank established then it's back to african cichlids.
