One went down today

I rode out today with about 16 other riders to 529/Brookshire. One fairly new rider must have took a curve too fast, just went wide or both and ate it in the grass. He just had his R6 for two months and dumped it all on the left side. Front/side fairings gone, left handle bar bent bad, left frame slider broke off and the tank was crushed on the left side. Can still ride it but we had it trucked to his place.

He's okay. Scraped up his left arm pretty bad and DID NOT have a jacket on. Those will certainly leave some nasty scars. Luckily he did have a helmet. Just wanted to make sure everyone takes it easy on those curves and wear your gear! I'll try to post some pics when one of the other riders shoots them too me.

16 total and the ride leader didn't make sure everyone had gear.
My law is if you don't have gear you ARE NOT going to ride with us PERIOD.
Good to hear the SQUID will ride another day!

I guess we didn't really have a "leader." It was three groups that combined to take a ride up to that area. When we rode, we basically broke into two groups. Our first group took a stop near what appeared to be a wood house/museum and big statue. When we didn't see the second group pull up, we sent one to find them. I personally can't make anyone wear gear. It's their choice. It's pretty fustrating to see it though. They can invest thousands of dollars into a great bike, but to skimp or not buying a jacket or helmet doesn't make sense. He was really really lucky he didn't get hurt worse. I wonder if this taught him anything.

We'll see about that.
Sometimes they gotta hurt bad enough to learn a lesson.
Then most the time it's too late.

You cant make someone wear gear, but if your leading a ride you can sure as tell them to anyways.. Peer pressure from a group can make you do some smart things. I would have told them to lay back and not to take out any riders. hahaha..
Glad the guy is alright. Squid or not I hate to see some one go down. Esp. without gear!
