Cat Delete for GSXR 600 k9

So I just got a cat delete mid pipe. I was about to get it installed until the mechanic told me that my bike would definitely get more sound, but it would run since removing the cat would make my bike lose back pressure.

I was told it has something to do with the Exup Valve and guy I got the mid-pipe from told me that this mid-pipe mounts directly behind the Exup Valve.

Anybody know anything about this or has a 2008-09 GSXR 600 that has done this personally?

It's not going to hurt anything. Previous year gsxr pipes deleted the cat as well.

Did you guys notice a change in performance or low acceleration? Where are you located amkmike? I'm curious on how it sounds after removing the cat and installing the midpipe.

I'm on the SW side, The weight you lose by hack the cat off makes it worth, it hp gain not to sure, You can run it without a fuel control for awhile but it is recommend to get one

thats common with almost all current sportbikes... even CBR's use a similar type of system (on the exhaust and INTAKE)... on a 600 you may notice slight reduction of lower end power but will likely notice a slight gain on the top end... just the nature of the beast... a power commander properly tuned should mitigate some of the loss

Listening to a "mechanic" was your first problem. I thought it was pretty common to swap 06-07 headers on the 08+ and just run an 06-07 exhaust? Its the same thing really..

Haha, well, that's why I decided to ask more people. I don't know much about performance
