is it worth it to buy a salvaged title bike?

I saw a bike on craigslist, a 2005 r6 for sale. 15k, only problem is the bike is has a salvage title. I see people selling salveged title bikes all the time, but I have never considered a bike with that kind of title. I just wanted to see how many people would or have bought a bike with a salvage title. Because u can usually get them for a lot cheaper but what is the resale on them like. Are they hard to get title transfered or insured? Anybody got any input? Thanks guys

or rebuilt titles?

are you saying they want 15k for the bike or 15 miles ??????not hard to transfer or insure just yes less resale value but dam-it if you saw me riding down the rd you have no idea if my ride is clean salvage stolen or what it rides the same as long at it did not receive a lot of damage i have owned 3 salvage bikes and transferred 1 out of state and they gave him a clean title was pretty cool...

So if you ask me nothign wrong with buying one if ya actually plan on riding the out of it and not trying to just make money on fliping it..

This is the one I'm sure he is talking about. I have a 2007 ZX6R with a salvage title. You wouldn't be able to tell though.

IMO 3200 is way too much for an 05 R6S with salvage title and 15k miles.

You can still register and have liability Insurance with no problems.

Edit: MRT713 beat me to it

aah my bad.... there is a link I think on Motorcycle unlimited to get resale values...... for a salvaged title I'd make sure it was considerably lower priced than same make model, year and milage of clear or clean titled bike.

Remove all doubt, take it to Patrick and let him take a look at it.

Nothing wrong with salvage title bikes. These days a bike gets "totalled" for scratches.

As suggested, have the owner take the bike to one of our fine sponsors and have them give it the once over. This should be done on any bike for purchase, regardless of title status.

Salvage title bikes, except for most race bikes, typically sell for a little less to a lot less dependent on the reason for the change in title or any visible damage.

my previously salvaged bike carries a "Rebuilt" title.

I purchased it and had no problems getting the title changed and in my name.
