Got hit by a Suburban yesterday

Guy in a Suburban hit me on the Suzuki as I was heading home at the corner of McKinney and Austin. I was in the right lane, he was in the left. I was at his passenger door when he made a right turn from the middle lane to try and enter a parking garage. There was nothing I could do to avoid it and he slammed into the left side of the bike. Several witnesses stopped and told the police that the guy hit me.

I'm a bit sore and stiff but that's it. Gear saved my big time.

The pics don't really do the damage justice.

Not sure what insurance will do. The guy was cited for it and at fault according to the police. Now I'm debating an attorney if any of you know of a good one, let me know.

The bike probably fell to the right after being hit from the left.

Glad you are OK.

Sorry to hear this.

You could get an atty, but as long as he's insured, then I'm not sure you'll get any more than they automatically pay. Unless you can prove that you're distraught over it. I don't know.

My concern is that I get what's fair for the bike.

Get your own repair estimates, then use it to counter theirs if they come out lower. Then keep in mind their responsible for rental car costs until such time as they make an offer, and remember it's an offer and your can attempt to negotiate with his insurance.

I doubt you can sue him for more than damages and his insurance will likely cover that anyway.
You should keep in mind that they ought to replace whatever gear you were wearing, that got damaged, as well as the bike repairs.
The only way I am aware you could sue for more is if you could show injuries that have potential to be long term, say a badly sprained/broken ankle or something like that. On the other hand I'm not a lawyer.
