Trailer Hitches

Looking for someone interested in fabbing up a trailer hitch that will fit on a ZX14

I decided I wanna use the ZX14 to occasionally tow around my minis. Mainly because I think it would be fun. I've got an idea on the setup, I just need someone who can work with the metal.

Actually found a setup, but it looks like its ~600$ shipped from Australia

Looks like it attached with the exhaust bolt and to a bracket that permanently attaches to subframe. Might be copyable.

So the linear pulling force is transmitted through the passenger peg/exhaust hanger? I know they can be sturdy, but they weren't really designed with towing in mind. I'd think a bracket that replaced the OEM peg brackets with something more fit for the purpose would be necessary.

I guess the subframe will be fine as long as the trailer tongue weight is less than a standard passenger, but wouldn't that mean always keeping the rear suspension dialed in for two up?

My rear suspension is setup as stiff as possible for the strip anyway so thats not an issue. As for towing, I'd only be pulling a lightweight trailer and a mini or two for fun. Shouldn't be a problem for the ZX14.

I would of course be interested in ideas for improvement on the design. But the problem right now is finding someone who has the equipment and knowhow to fab it up.

really just need to find the metal thats strong enough for it and bolt it to the frame. take some measurements, or swing by and ill take some for you from some spots and see what we can come up with.

When my leg is all healed up we'll see what we can do. Maybe 1-2 more weeks and I'll be golden.

maybe you can you research into choppers/touring bikes (i.e. goldwings etc). i am sure they have some tow setups for those kind of bikes.

i remember watching OCC on discovery channel where they pulled a sleigh behind a chopper for christmas.
