Lane Splitting

I am fairly new to the area and I just got my bike down here about 1.5 months ago. I have heard that lane spliting is legal and I have heard that it not. Does anyone know for sure? I saw that there was an ammendment in 2005 that would have allowed it during traffic, but I don't know if it passed.

Even if it was...I'd advise against it...

Drivers in Houston never seem to look b4 they get over...

I have the paper works that says its legal under certain terms. LIke you have to be 21, have endorsement, and insurance policy of like 10 g's. Then traffic cant be more than 15mph and you can do it. Its something like that, I gotta find the papers. But you'll still get a ticket if caught in the end.

now that's some paperwork i would like to see^^^^
FYI, i wouldn't split lanes in Texas, we have too many simple minded ignorant people that will take you out in a heartbeat. if you're in a hurry, you should have left sooner IMO.

Well, I don't know that there are any more simple minded people here than in California? Either way.........I've yet to be in THAT much of a hurry, legal or not.

really there is no need for lane splitting, well besides the heat other than that I see no need for it, especially if bikes are allowed to use the HOV lanes on the freeway!!

I can't stand when other motorcyclists use the shoulder to skip traffic. This is one of the reasons why cagers get off and show motorcyclists no respect. Only time I pass cars is on the HOV lane when traffic is completely stopped and even at that I take the first available exit.
