out of curiosity

I have 2 herniated disc, deterioration, and a radial tear in my lower back. Just asking because I have been unable to walk for about four days now and have wanted to ride so bad. How many of you have back problems and still ride?

I have days when I can barely crawl out of bed, and every breath HURTS. It doesnt happen too often, though. I find the position on a sport bike is actually very comfortable. Having my feet up under my hips keeps my lower back straight.

I have L4-L5-S1 fused
discs between C2-3, C3-4, and C4-5 herniated. The weight of a helmet does hurt my neck at times. For this reason, naked bikes kill me. I need a windscreen to get some protection and take some wind buffeting stress off my neck.

L4 and l5 herniated, c2 and c3 whiplashed leading to 2 nerve ablation surgeries, t10 and t11 fractured and multiple ribs cracked. Still ride uncomfortable bikes and still smile while doing so.

Never had surgery but mine are compressed disks and lower back arthritis and stress fractures in my hips from gymnastics, martial arts, and parkour when I was a kid (mostly jumping out of second story windows, roofs, flipping over fences off a trampoline, etc.) There are some days when it's bad but I don't feel uncomfortable on the bike (I do find the cruiser riding position uncomfortable) on my bike I can shift around and put my back in different positions. I haven't been on a long ride while my back was acting up though.

On a side note, cruisers kick my . The riding position ruins my back.

If I ride offroad, I spend most of my time standing up, as the sitting position doesnt feel too well on my lower back.

Most days it feels okay, but it's subject to weather change. This day it was good!

Bad back but my elbows are my problem. Too much heavy lifting has killed them as well as my right wrist. 30 min. into the ride I feel it.

L4-L5 fused, narrowing of the spinal column at C2,C3,C4, doc had to whittle around them to stop compressing spinal cord, good days and bad days, now bone spurs in my heels are the main problems,

My father-in-law has had numerous surgeries because of degenerative disc disease. He rides whenever he can; but on a cruiser.

I am very fortunate to be nearly 40 and have no real pain/health issues.

Bad back here as well; mostly compressed disks and a couple disks with less than 2mm bulges. If it catches me just right I cannot weight bear on my left leg. With stretching and twisting I can get my back into place to where I can walk again; I can do this in less than 5 minutes. I have found that keeping my core muscles strong reduces episodes. Chiropractic care and yoga also helps.

I have three vertabrae that are fused in my lower back. Major surgery in 2005 following an accident where multiple vertabrae were crushed. There are days that I feel I can barely crawl, much less walk. the surgeon said if I ever had another encounter like in '05, I would probably be paralyzed for life.

But, like said above, riding a sportbike is actually very comfortable, and I am still able to do the long rides. And it always makes me smile.
