First Harley Ride (A cool story...... Bro)

My friend Renzo was nice enough to offer up his Harley Sportster lastnight, for me to ride to the Christmas party. I gotta say, it took some getting used to, but that was actually a pretty fun ride!... Though I couldn't do our usual route with everyone. I took it on Memorial and Allen Parkway, I was still able to have good amount of fun on the turns.

I was always curious to ride a Cruiser (mostly a Harley, cuz of all the hype), and I was surprise at how much I enjoyed myself. What about you other sports riders, have you guys been curious to ride a cruiser? Have you riden one and what did you think?

On a side note.... I got to benefit from the bias cops have for Harley's against sports bikes. I was speeding more than Renzo (on his R6) that was behind me, cop stopped him (that sucks bro). Later I was going down Hwy 6, speeding (only vehicle on road) cop was parked with Radar, didn't stop me.

It's all about the torque, the sound and the look.
I like 'em and I miss mine but that's not why I ride.

I like the acceleration, the handling and the braking, none of which Harley's do very well.

It took some getting used to, since the throttle is really sencitive.. The braking on it was freaking surprising!

To me, when I got my first "Cruiser/Harley" it wasn't fun for the first month cause I still had the mentality that I had to go over 120 mph to have fun, race in the corners, wheelie and act dangerous etc. Once I got over that and actually just rode the MC for the reason people ride them, to relax, feel good, escape, to think and to jus get out on the open road etc, it actually started to become more fun riding like that then 120 mph every where I went. To me that gets old, IMHO of course.

tootled around on a metric cruiser a few times. It was ok, I guess. Might be nice in a part of the country that has interesting scenery. Got on a "built" harley and was like "wtf, this thing vibrates way too much."

I had a road king and my wife had a cross bones. Both bikes where a lot of fun, the Cross Bones has a 96" and race turner....it screamed along 95mph all day long. Lots of fun...but easy to get lazy riding.

I have ridden a harley before and really wanted to like it but being performance oriented i was biased before i even got on the bike, i took it for a spin and found it very confortable at slower speeds, maybe when i get older and cant ride sport bikes anymore i will have no choice but to switch to a cruiser but for now i still prefer sport bikes!

I've ridden a couple harleys including a sportster. The last cruiser i've thrown a leg over was cap'n stabn's vtx1300. I really like that bike. Looks good, very smooth ride and it's got some power. I could easily ride a cruiser and enjoy myself. BUT, my next street bike will still be another sportbike.

Curiosity was my mistake! After riding a couple of cruisers (metric & Harley), I thought it would be cool to own one. I sold my F4i, and bought a Yamaha V-Star 1100 Custom. Don't get me wrong, it's a great bike, but just not my cup of tea. I've been kicking myself in the ever since.

I've got a Harley for the road and a Kawi for the track and had a Suzuki sport bike. The Harley is fun at legal speed, the Kawi is for going really fast. The Suzuki was boring until 80 mph and then it just got me tickets.
