think listening to music while your riding is a great way to shorten your life expectency, I generally listen for horns, squelling tires, loud noises, etc.

I don't remember the exact name of the ones I have, but they're made by sony. I originally bought them for when I'm running or working out. They have the ear piece that fits into the ear and a flexible plastic "hook" that fits over the top of your ear to keep them in.

Not saying I recommend it for everyone. But I for one happen to concentrate a hellofa lot better with good music in the background. It helps keep me relaxed as well as observent. I've always heard that you have to be relaxed and not tensed up while riding, well this is my way of relaxing. It's not as if I'm sitting there concentrating on the music...the beat flows and I flow with it. Always been this way, either with school, work, or hobbies. As I said, I do have the volume up, but I don't have it blaring where I can't hear people talking at normal range. I may not be able to understand them...but I can still hear them.

Such as everything else in life....you gotta do what works for you.

i used to use my bluetooth headset. I would be riding listening to the mp3's on my phone, get a phone call, auto pickup, and just talk for a few minutes. Then i got tired of talking and riding, so i just listen to music now and no more phone calls
