Angry

Quote:
police believe the evacuees are partly responsible for a nearly 17.5 percent increase in homicides so far this year over the same period in 2005.

About 21 percent of Houston's 232 homicides through July 25 involved an evacuee as either a suspect or a victim, according to police, who attribute much of the bloodshed to fighting among rival New Orleans gang members.
OK so if homicides have increased 17.5 percent and 21 percent of the homicides have involved the NOLA's, than doesn't that mean that without the NOLA's our homicides have declined about 3 percent?

i'm still amazed that this is the first time i have read an article that blames the NOLA for the rise in crime in houston. seems that everyone is more concerned with not hurting the feelings of the wonderful people of new orleans rather than speaking the blatant truth.

Katrina dumped a whole lot of people into Houston. More people = more crime even if the people committing the crimes aren't NOLA's there's now less police per capita.

Back in the late 70's early 80's the homicide rate was hovering in the 800's. Now we are lucky to hit 350 in a year. No Nolas back then to blame.

i think there should of been more things like this in the paper, or maybe a billboard when entering houston should read "TRESSPASSERS WILL B SHOT" :laughing6 fukn bastards took alot of money from everyone so they could get a job or hit the strip clubs, then too make things worse wasnt the governor of Loiusina say something about any bums or crack heads that are out of NOLA to just stay there bc they didnt want them back
