Probably rode with him plenty of times with no problems.
People get complacent and don't gear up properly.
Now he'll have to live go the rest of his life thinking "what if she'd had a helmet on".
That's a terrible thing for anyone to endure.

RIP

I skimmed through racerX's post and for some reason read "No other details about gear" as "No gear"

My mistake.

thats really sad to hear. i took my oldest daughter for a few small rides when she was i think 3. it was really fun and she was actually a really good passenger. i look forward to taking her for rides again when she's much older. i'm sorry for the dad. i hope for merciful treatment for him.
my dad used to take me for little rides to the corner store on his scooter

If she had gear, I'd be surprised if it was street gear that fit properly. It was hard finding anything that fit my then 11 y/o daughter, except for motocross stuff. Could a 5 y/o even keep their feet on the pegs?

RIP to the little girl, prayers for the dad.

Holy !! I could not imagine what this poor guy is going through.

Thats why I always get upset when I see people taking their little kids on the bike. Most of the time they are ignorant about the dangers because they probably rode with their dad when they were kids and have nothing but fond memories of it that they wanted their kids to have as well.
