Traffic stop question?

I've been wondering what usually happens and what should be done when on a group ride and a cop comes up behind with the lights wailing. Does the entire group pull over, the sweeper take it, or does he usually go after the lead. I'm talking about a group with about 4 car lengths between each other. This happened to me around midnight last week, I was sweeping and saw him first come up on my and I slowed down and pulled over but he went around me after the rest of the group. I turned off the bike and waited in shadowed area and he never came back, so I just left, got off the freeway, and took the low route home. Haven't heard what happened to the others?

They're still searching for their sweeper

As with any emergency vehicle, you slow, move to the right, and yeild right-of-way to them. If they stay behind you as you pull off the roadway, then you're the one they wanted.

If the cop puts you in cuffs, you're the one he wanted

If we are all going pretty much the same speed, he doesn't expect to ticket the entire group, does he? Does that happen?

We got pulled over in Galveston during the Lone Star rally 2 years ago. I tried to take one for the team, but he got on the horn and told me to "catch up to your friends". After a half hour, he gave the reason for pulling us over was "exhibition of acceleration". This was in town, in a 35 zone. What a dumb .

I've heard of cops doing this. They come on a highway with lights on just to see if someone runs. If not, they pull off the next exit and wait a few minutes.

I was riding with 2 others on a trip to the 3 sisters last year and we got nipped coming over a knoll...there he was under a tree on the next knoll. Of course he waved to us as we passed by so we pulled over and waited for him to come up behind, but he only gave a ticket to the leader saying (to us 2 in the back) "y'all were just keeping up, he was setting the pace" so no ticket for me that trip. Of course to add insult to injury, about 5 miles back we were stuck behind some A-hole harleys who wouldn't let us pass to which we finally did get past them on a long straight and of course everyone of them waved to us as they passed us on the side of the road with the cop.

btw...we went on that same run past Oct and the same cop was in the same place, Hwy 337 between Vanderpool and Medina, they love to camp that spot.

Cops can pull over as many bikes in a group as they can prove/allege were speeding.

What was the outcome in court? I wasn't aware they could even get you for that as long as you weren't actually speeding, burning the tires, or on one wheel

I've been ticketed for DOA without burning-out, etc.
