Question SD Light - Help

I'm not very familiar with this light and error message. Is this something that can be fixed easily or would it be better if I took it to Patrick? The red oil light came on and flashed 'sd' in the temperature box.

This is the second time it has came on. The first time it came on was when I was on my way home after about 140 mile ride about a month ago, the light came on so I stopped and shut the bike off, the bike would not start after that. I didn't know what was wrong, so I jumped the battery on the bike and everything has been fine since.

Yesterday it came on when I got home after a 10 mile ride. I haven't started the bike since.

This bike is a 2009 Suzuki Gsxr750 with approx 1000 miles.

Any idea on what may be wrong with it?

Warranty? Let the dealer worry about it......I'm usually one to never go to the dealer but if I have a warranty I'll use it up

I bought it in Georgia. Will any Suzuki dealer take care of it?

It doesn't appear to be disconnected and it's the original.

Pull the plug and see if there's any corrosion.

As long as the bike is still under warranty, yes.

Same thing happened to me. I pulled over stopped bike and wouldn't restart. Jumped it off and it was fine. Then it did it again 1 week later. I'm 100% sure it's your rectifier. I heard from Suzuki they had a huge problem with 2009's. If you read the owners manual it will tell you what the warning light and codes mean and SD has to do with the charging. Hope this helps.

that light is triggered by the steering damper or a problem with the charging system, or vehicle speed sensor.
If speedo is working correctly, check damper plug (at damper, and at main harness plug under left fairing) for corrosion, also check the charging system.
