people need to learn to drive before they can think about operating a phone while driving.

Yup, and we all know that'll NEVER happen.

It's not the cell phone ban that's going to improve safety of people on the roads.

It's the influx of retards that can't do two things at once and completely loose train of thought while attempting to do so.

I have seen people flying down I-10 smoking a cig, and putting on eyeliner doing 75 in the fast lane. You can't tell me this tramp didn't have multitasking skills.

How about the dumbass that can't change a freaking CD without having to stare at the radio, or better yet the stupid sum drops the CD on the floor board and his first reaction is to duck under the dash and look for it.

I can pop in an ear piece and carry a conversation with my wife while I am on my bike in the middle of traffic on 610.

People are just stupid, and Darwin is harvesting these ignorant at a faster rate, unfortunately innocent people are sometimes caught in the mix.

You can't fix stupid. They can ban cell phones, eating, stereos, kid beating, road head, ect and there will still be those who crash due to lack of attention to the road.

In the UK if you're seen using a cell whilst driving by LEO's its an immediate fine and points on your licence.

The above doesn't include the use of hands free kit

It would be even better if the cell phone carriers and manufacturer's took some initiative. GPS sensors are pretty common in phones these days and it would be a simple thing to prevent phones from operating if they are moving faster than a certain rate. It would prevent passengers from making calls too, but simplicity has a cost.

More Gubbament control is not what is needed. Wouldn't is be easier to increase the penalty. GPS? Come on. If I'm a passenger I would be affected. This is gonna get outta hand. We just need more personal accountability.

Blue, get outta here with that nonsense, you know just as well as everyone else does the goverment can control this and do a better job of protecting John Q Dumbass, and Sally J Clusterfuck.

Who needs accountability when the .GOV, will protect you, some bleeding heart liberal will make an excuse for you, or a doctor will write you off for being fondled by Mary lou Rottencrotch as a kid and it destoryed you.

society sucks, what a bunch of whining .

Anyone else think its sad we have to force people not to text or use there phone? To force people to wear a seatbelt or helmet for their own good? It's grown people who are still kids.

uhhh, put on their makeup, read a book, with the radio, shuffle through cd's, baste a turkey, talk on the cell phone, talk to the person in the car next to her, talk to her passenger, talk to herself, wildly change lanes for no reason, fall asleep, have a drink. I'm sure there's I'm forgetting.

Scientific psychological studies have shown little difference between a hands free system or just holding the phone. Some people just can't multitask.

Actually, they're not. Today's cars are so safe, most people survive to be stupid again.
