I'm 55 and been riding 2 years. I really try hard not to fall. I only fell once and you really can't call it a fall. I fell pulling in to my gravel drive way. But since then Ralph and Raya lowered my bike 2 inches. But I still don't look forward to a crash. I know when I go down it really going to hurt. But I really think I would keep on riding , I really love it..

My mom is always the last to find out after a wreck. She usually walks in on me w my leg up and ice on it

Few years ago she found out a week later when an exhaust came in the mail and she came over to have lunch w me

My favorite quote is "there are two types of riders, those who have gone down and those who are going to go down".

I went down 7 years ago on a wet patch after coming out of a corner (even had the bike straight, so must have been oil) well, the light was green and the car behind me was turning also. Though it felt like minutes for me to pick the bike up and get it off the street (because it wouldn't start, carbs!) the guy in the turning lane adjacent to me made a u-ey to see if I was okay. When I told him I was he said, "Other than the fact that you went down, that was awesome to watch!" I asked why and he said it took me less that 5 seconds to pick the bike up and wheel it off the street! "The guy behind you didn't even make it around the corner before you where on the sidewalk"! Felt much longer to me Guess that's adrenaline for you.

After the first half a dozen or so, it gets alot easier... although I don't recommend that on the street at all.

seperated collar bone n shoulder, broke ribs, and collapsed lung = more respect for what can and will happen quickly and being more aware of suroundings and situations that can turn into a bigger issue

You are about as unique as a nickel. Most people get right back on. It is not some kind of elite club. People who do not have their own reasons.

Speaking of which, I am down right now with a broken leg

I'll be back on as soon as this piece of leg can bear to shift up from 1st.

its not the bikes fault you crashed (usually). Do you stop driving a car when you wreck.

my wreck had me in a lot of thought. "should i take this as a sign to give it up?" well lets just say a dislocated shoulder, broken finger, dislocated thumb, and a broken wrist, 9 screws and a metal plate later. im just trying to get my right hand to completely work again because ........... well you cant operate a clutch with a busted finger haha. it's all a matter of how much will power you have, and how firmly you beleive in " will take you when it's your time". i'm gonna get back on one as soon as i can and i'll ride until i die. although i did take this as a sign to build up my next motor bigger and better haha

Well, shoot guys...All this talk of broken bones and fractured skulls is making me take a step back from my bike. But , now that I think about it, I'll never stop

There's a big difference when you're in a wreck with a car versus a bike bro. The risk level is much higher, we call this fallacy an invalid analogy. Sorry to make you look dumb in front of your friends

I'm just playin bro!

Thanks for posting that. For me.. and my story.... the reason I ride is for the physics of it all. Not to boast in anything.... must have a plan for me and is taking my life in his hands...I went down at 100... broke my collar bone and ankle..pretty bad road rash too.. I even still have the old crashed R6 in the garage... The day after I got my boot off my foot I went and got another bike.... call me crazy or just as you say passionate.... but I really do love to ride... thats why all of us are out in sub temperatures riding tonight till were freezing I would say passionate...

I got back on because I was given another bike.... I hope I can make a difference in other new riders like myself...Its definitely safety first... wear your gear and minimize injuries because as we all know its not if but when...pray have you in his hands too...Glad I didn't get a bike when I was younger...at least I have matured a bit...well enough or my rant.... please be safe out there..
