Riders That Go Down And Get Back Up

I was thinking about this today...

I've always been really amazed ( and impressed) at the courage and at the heart that it takes for some of the riders that go down and still make the decision to not let that stop them for doing what they love to do. Wether is someone that went down at the Track, Street or stunters dropping their bikes at the lot.

Two Wednesdays past, I think it was Prodigy that went down and a peg dug into the side of his ankle/leg/shin (one of those) making him bleed pretty good(if it wasn't prodigy then sorry)...He checked the bike, made sure it started and got right back on it. Same thing with a lot of us that go down, we dust ourselves off and get right back on the bike. We know the risk, we understand them, but we look in the face of that doubt (of getting back on) and just do it.

I guess that is probably what separates the true riders that are doing it for the passion, from the "squid" that is just doing it for show or that temporary thrill. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the thrill too. My point here, is that there is a lot to be said about riders that go down and choose to not stay down. Those riders that choose to get back on the bike and take the fall for what it is. A lesson in riding and a chance to be better.

Thanks for reading, sorry I couldn't make this a great literary piece or as eloquent as some of you would, but that's all I got. Feel free to add your own take.

I hope this is not considered thread jacking...
The older I get the less likely I would be to get back on after a bad spill.

i've thought that too. I've been off a bike for over a year now and constantly think I might be better off staying off. IDK... when I graduate I'll make the decision then I suppose.

I think everyone has a slightly different interpretation of a bad spill........but I do tend to agree with you.
I know I don't bounce back like I used too.

If you're going to have a bad spill, try to get it out the way before 40. Things just don't heal up the way they used to..........
