The Terrain is a mix of Wet Creek, Dry Creek, Trees, Sand, hard pack, off camber hill climb turns . It has a lot of elevation changes, some small and some large. This one is shaping up to be neat, challenging and a little different course.

Camp Fires will be allowed and plenty of parking on a solid flat area. There are NO HOOKUPS, Water or Power available.

Got questions, feel free to ask.

Here is the flyer for the event.

Woot! I just finished putting the bike back together this weekend for this race!
I am trying my best to be there!
I'm unsure if Chad / Sergio is going, but is any one down to car pool?

My plans are still in the air....but I will certainly be able to tote a couple of extra bikes on the trailer (only one spot in the cab for another body and I think Cliff has dibs) if needed. However, I plan on staying in CS at my cousin's place so I'll be leaving Saturday night after practice and the live music and returning Sunday morning for the riders mtg and race....I'll likely leave my stuff overnight though.

Not sure if that helps you at all.

I'm not sure about this weekend. I re-injured my foot at Rio on Sunday, but I want to go. If I can walk normally by Thursday, I'll have room in my truck.

Sorry you gotta miss it Cliff....looks to be prime racing weather this weekend.

Here is a link to the pre race video and some key notes to be aware of prior to entering the course!

http://texasxtremeffroadracing.phanfare.com/4925439

Quick notes:

Elevation changes are right at 300ft from our lowest point on the course to the highest.

Most of the course is very wide
Sand and Hard Pack
Some of the course is steep (YOU MUST NOT RUN THE COURSE FAST YOUR FIRST TIME! YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT HILL, IF ANYTHING!
Lots of ups and downs
Plenty of passing areas
Lots of pucker ups (especially the first time)
Nice dry creek run
A few small log crossings
2 EZ/HARDS (1 has no time advantage, Just more fun and the other is about 10 seconds or more)

D riders (FASTEST) will do the course around 30 minutes and up
A riders are looking at 15 and up (Yes that fast)
B and C you will fall in between.

**VERY IMPORTANT**

PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE PART OF THE VIDEO WHERE I SHOW YOU A DANGER AREA. YOU DO NOT WANT TO IGNORE THIS AREA AND THE COURSE RIBBON. SLOW DOWN AND PAY ATTENTION**

one last bump before I leave the office....if you're out in the CS or Bryan area this should be a good course to spectate as it's only 300 acres and plenty of trails....

see a few of you there.

that means no drinking and I don't see that happening. If you left Houston by 6:30 or so you could probably make a parade lap and race....I wouldn't try racing this course without seeing it first as Otis mentioned.

Change in directions!

otis posted this mssg. on TON last night....

When entering college station exit university dr and not william fitch. Turn left on university dr/hwy60 go through town and hyw 47 will veer to the right take hwy 47 and Go approx .7 miles. Look for the mediun crossover on your left just past villa maria dr. it is marked with arrows. Go Across to the other side of the hwy. You will be looking the entrance. Go straight across the road through the gate.

gps coords should be correct via the flier though.

Not sure who was taking pics, but if I find them online, I'll try and link them up to this thread. I saw multiple folks along the trails taking photos, hopefully some of them will surface on the internetz.

Congrats on the new bike....it suits you much better!!! and when you master it, step up to the 250. You rode well and completed 3 laps on very technical course.

Final Event recap....

For those who missed the race, well, quite frankly....you may have missed the most technical and challenging course we visited this season. Elevation drops like crazy, up hill climbs that would "normally" have been "hards" at other properties. The closest thing I've ridden to this property is either Shiloh Ridge or Red River. The entire 8 or 9 mile course had HUGE elevation changes every 1/4 mile if not closer. and to make it even better, it was only 15 minutes up the road from TWS (Texas World Speedway) (our backyad for Houston peeps).

My race went well, finished 2nd and placed 2nd overall in my class. I finished a measley 4 points behind the kid who took first. I gave him a run for his money and this last race was a deciding factor. He came in 3rd to my 2nd so the point spread just wasn't enough to surpass him. Had I placed 1st, it would have been a different story....I guess the 9 beers I drank Saturday night didn't help my situation.

Thanks for all who came out to this event and others over the course of the 2010 season. If you are on the fence about trying a hare scramble season out, show up to the first Texas Xtreme Offroad Racing event of the 2011 season on Jan 22/23. I don't think Otis has released the locations yet for 2011, but keep your eyes open for a thread soon.

Here's a quick shot of the D class holeshot from my wife's point n shoot camera. As pics become available (if at all), I'll post them here.

man! looks like i missed a fun race!

looks like I will be missing the season opener too unless the baby comes before the race. I don't think Mama will be happy to go in labor while I'm out racing.
