Most dealerships will not allow test rides. That said, Goe Kawasaki in Angleton has some demonstrators that they will allow you to test ride. They keep a copy of DL on file. I dont remember if they also wanted a copy of insurance.

I think that even if allowed a test ride it would probably be limited in scope to nearby roads - maybe not even a freeway.

At legal-speeds on surface streets I don't think that you're going to be able to learn a lot about the differences between these bikes that really like to be on the razor's edge.

Look for demo events sponsored by the manufacturers.

Eximports (RIP) had one for Triumph this September or October. Triumph had an 18 wheeler with pairs of all their motorcycles touring the US from dealer to dealer. I guess in October it was Eximports turn. I needed a DL (class M of course) and my gear (they required to bring your own helmet).

A test ride will show how you FIT on the bike. If you arent comfortable on a bike, it is a waste of money gixxers are SO uncomfortable to me. Also, things like the new R1, have to be experienced to feel the difference. I demoed one. I DONT like the crossplane engine. In my book, it's the lack of a twin's torque, combined with the lack of a 4s HP. Not my thing at all. I walked away thinking it was a very mediocre engine.

On the other hand, the superduke was an amazing bike!

Now you're just showing your immaturity. What you have is called poor reading comprehension. All I said is that the R1 is different than the other three liter bikes. I never once claimed it was better. You feel the difference of the cross-plane engine instantly, and you could definitely tell the difference from a test ride.
you sir are most definitely right.

you are a , you have the fastest bike out there, you are the most skilled rider i have ever heard, you win.

now on a lighter note, i HAVE ridden the new r1 and i WAS NOT impressed in the least bit with the engine. I think gtdriver pretty much summed it up.
