Yeah, thanks for asking this...I've been wanting to because everyone tells me it will give me more confidence on my turns... It makes sense... but been curious since it's two diferent environments.

It lets you explore the limits of your bike in a controlled environment. You can then apply that knowledge / skill in street riding situations, especially oh moments.

For most people it helps you push your bike to the limit without, most hazards of being on the street. For me it has helped me trust my bikes, and tires alot more than I used to. Not that i push it that hard on the street, but if i ever was in a situation where i came into a corneer to hot i could trust my tires, be smoothe, and ride it out.

you'll become better aquainted with your bike and what it can do. think you're gonna run off? lean over more and trust your tires. so many useful things like brake & clutch control, trail braking, etc.

the track ruined my street riding. just wasnt worth riding on the street anymore.

so many things go through my mind that I dont think about on the track

oh look, fence post, curb, car, tree, culvert, road debris, wait are my tires warm yet,, these aren't race tires I better slow down (even though I was already riding well within the limits of street tires.

i rode even slower on the steet and made me even more nervous doing so.

I became a much better rider and learned what the bike could do on the track, but it just didnt help me on the street because I started to over think things.

Back on topic

The track has helped my tremendously. I know the limits and capabilities of myself and machine which I apply every time I ride. I can judge turns and obstacles with confidence now too.

U say u know some fast trackriders that are slow on the streets....probably because they are smarter now and know the streets are very predictable. My dos pesos

I have 2 street bikes that sit in the garage and mainly gather dust. The one that gets seat time is my track bike.

I am about to turn another one into a track bike only.

The one thing that has helped me the most at the track is how I keep my cool when I am confronted with a situation that requires some quick thinking.

What I mean by this is that I remember the first year I hit the track. Once I started going faster and breaking the tires loose on corners, I remember getting the scared out of me. Like the quick anxiety, fear feeling that you feel in your chest.

Little by little, you start getting used to the "oh " moments and just reacting. Now, it takes a very serious situation for me to feel that scared feeling any more. I just tend to react to the moment. I have crashed twice, once pretty hard on turn one at TWS (Texas World Speedway).

I understand somewhat what the limits of street bikes are and most importantly, I react before I get scared. Just like the moment that the car behind me got slammed at a red light. I heard tires, saw light coming up REAL fast and without thinking, I goosed it and got the out of the way. I just reacted without the fear.

I truly believe that without that mental conditioning that I acquired over time at the track, I would be dead or seriously hurt.
