engine upgrades

i was wondering if anyone can point me to a site that explains some of the technicalities of various engine upgrades. stuff i am curious about:

jet kits
boring
port & polish
compression changes
slipper clutch
nos

i know a little about these, but i want to really understand how it all works. what other things can you do to your engine to get more performance?

and exactly what do you think you know about my bike?

FYI, my suspension and exhaust are BETTER than the "newer" stock bikes your talking about.

i have a penske triple clicker rear shock, ohlins steering dampener, and leuman (sp?) engineering in the front forks. i have a full Yoshimura race exhaust, Titanium from the headers all the way to the CF Ride Smart-3 can.

i pay $6 bucks a gallon for 114 octane gas, just to go to work and back...

...cause thats just how i roll...

and unlike alot of posers out there, my bike is actually tuned to use it.

i know the SRAD is a humble start for performance, but this bike is about as PIMP as you get an SRAD to be, and im sure Patrick will attest to that as he has done most of the work on this bike. go ahead...ask him. :icon_bigg

there are a ton of other mods and upgrades on this bike, too many to list, but THIS THREAD IS NOT EVEN ABOUT MY BIKE.

the reason i started this thread is just to gain some general knowledge in things i dont know too much about. y'all might not really care, but i work in this industry for a living, the more i know about bikes, the more i can help my customers.

p.s. today was my last day at cycle gear ill miss those guys, but starting tomorrow morning ill be behind the parts counter at stubbs sw. one of the reasons i am going there is the chance to learn more about mechanics.

sigh...i hate you guys....

(j/k...yall jackasses are still cool.)

p.s.s. i have internet at home now...be afraid.

LEARN TO FREAKING READ ALLREADY, OWNAGE.

I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THESE THINGS FOR MY OWN BIKE!

I WORK IN THE INDUSTRY AND THEREFORE WANT MORE KNOWLEDGE IN THIS AREA TO HELP CUSTOMERS

you are correct, an '06 liter bike will out-do me. but for that matter a '97 liter bike has a good chance too, as this is a 600cc.

but this bike WILL beat an 04 gsx-r 750 through the first 4 gears. i know this for a fact, so dont hate. but anyways, this STILL aint even about my bike.

post knowledge of HP GAINS OR STFU.

im not trying to beat any of those either, nor have i claimed it could. this is just my daily commuter... so, whats your point? ...i started this thread to talk about jet kits allready...so if you know anything on the subject i would love to quit flexing with you and have an enlightening discusion on upgrades.

p.s. paniro...thanks, lol. im glad someone can recognize, haha. and if yall dont know, im not all serious about my ride or anything else. its just sarcastic fun to me.

ownage you dumb the suspension wasnt bought in 97 the made the same suspension now and was put on with in the past yr or so, so how is that not better then stock suspension. you must not understand why suspension is better the spring is changed out for the riders weight and it transfers fluid more efficiently then the stock ones makeing it easier to tune and takes a better beating. not only that take it to the track and put you on the liter bike and ill ride the 600 and i bet just by me have a lil more track expierience then you( not much at all) i bet i could take you. maybe not on the straight but in the corners for sure. HIS BIKE IS NOT A DRAG BIKE so why do you worry about if its slower in the straights its in the corners that count... learn more about track in the racers lounge

i bought this bike from pete, who i worked with at cycle gear. he owned my bike (he bought for use on the track) and he also has the 04 gsxr 750 for his daily street ride. he was alergic to the race gas (was seeing double out on the track) so he sold it to me for a badass price. since then i have been converting this track bike back to being street legal...well, actually to being street legal for the first time.

the claim of beating the 04 750 through the 1st four is straight from petes mouth, and he should know since he owned both bikes at the same time. that being said i would love to test it out, sometime for and giggles.

ive also heard rumour this bike won some WERA races back in the day, and i dont mean this year/make/model. i mean this VIN#.

i dont know what that really counts for if anything, cause im not familiar with WERA, but everyone who mentioned it to me seemed to think it was a big deal.
