From what I understand, he lowsided on a sharp right turn. He had some road rash.

Hope he is doing ok.

Will all my respect to the boy (he looks very young) and all of those that showed up at the ride, I would like to say a couple of things that I have learned in my riding experience which is about 8 months. First of all, I am glad to hear that he is doing good and that he only has a couple of bumps and bruises it could have been much worse.

I had my share of fall after I bought my bike and I learned some valuable lessons. To start, the kid was the only one (if I am not mistaken) in the crowd that was not wearing boots among with the guy in the vintage bike. That was the first thing I notice when we were at the Shell in the morning. That was the first no-no. Then, is not to judge the book by its cover, but the bike seem quite powerful (like new) thus; if you are not wearing the right gear, I therefore assume that you don't have great experience riding especially that inline four. I was coming behind a couple of bikes behind him. I have done this ride three times and I feel a little more confident, but I still try to ride within my limits and not get overexcited and try to catch up with the leaders in the front (specially some guy in the honda that was kneedragging). The kid was really hauling trying to keep up with the front of the group, I don't blame him sometimes as noobs we may be inclined to do that but when that happens we start riding outside our skill level. We have all learned the hard way one at some point in life. For all the noobs planning this ride and any other again please remember always to ride within your comfort zone and avoid the "oh " moments. Also, there were some others that need to be explained how to downshift on a curve instead of parking there bike when going into the curve. That is also a major source of accidents in this kind of groups rides. My two cents. Overall, I am glad to here that he is doing well and nothing serious happened to him. The bike is something material that can be fixed.

"Speeds will be kept to no more than 15 over posted in straights and no more than 5 over posted speeds in turns."

"We will be broke into smaller groups depending on the turn out, but there WILL NOT be a fast group on this ride. Anyone wanting to go fast please do not show up, find a different meet spot or a different time."

Looked like all of this went out the window on 3090. I stopped and was glad to see the kid was alright, for the most part.

No, it was a different one. It was clean new sticky blacktop. I think I know which one you're referring to. I almost lost it on that one...has a bridge immediately after it (if you're going back away from Yankees). One of those tar snakes dropped down and pointed my front tire toward the guard rail. It took all I had to not hit the rail. The last thing I wanted to do was whip the handlebars quickly to the left, as there was gravel, and I would have surely gone down.

tar snakes
