The link Azylum posted has the 98 SERVICE manual which is the same as the 2001. The only difference is that they printed a 2001 supplement for the manual that can be found here (all for free):

I doubt he is wanting to use the owner's manual to work on the bike as they are not much help.

Correct on the 01/02 info

Should be as follows for the manuals, I believe:

98-2001 (w/ supplements)
2002-2003
2004-2006
2007-2008
2009-2011
