Some of that patchwork can cause you to think things are happening just cause it spooks you and causes you to make the bike slide by not being smooth through the corner. So what I am saying is that it can be mental. Go up to Hallet and ride. It will really mess with your head. The first time I raced there I was like oh slick spot up ahead...but turns out the slick stuff had good feel and grip. There were patches of all different types out there. It is like it was pieced together. It helped me learn to not trust my instincts on pavement and I have made it through some rough stuff cause I didn't think anything of it. Kind of like the time I went through some fresh oil from a downed bike on FM337 in the hill country. Had I panic'd I'd not be here talking today.
